Physical Therapy

Manual Therapy

Manual therapy is a specialized form of physical therapy in which therapists used their hands to put pressure on the muscle tissue and manipulate the joints. This treatment of the muscles and joints helps to reduce pain and stiffness. Manual therapy techniques include joint mobilization, soft tissue mobilization, deep tissue release, trigger point therapy, nerve tissue mobilization, and myofascial release.

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a modern innovative treatment designed for fast pain relief. It uses the musculoskeletal model which focuses on anatomy, biomechanics, and individual muscle. It is a modern medical practice that is often associated with acupuncture but aside from providing pain relief and using similar tools the philosophy and treatments are very different.

Dry needling has longer needles and can reach into deep tissue which is not accessible by acupuncture or manual therapy. This technique is used by Certified Physical therapists and medical doctors to relieve muscle pain, cramping, and tension, improve range of motion, and improve mobility and flexibility.

Electrotherapy

At Bounce Back Physical Therapy, we may utilize electrical modalities as part of your treatment, including ultrasound, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS), laser, and neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES). Electrotherapy is designed to promote tissue healing, improve circulation, restore normal tissue function, as well as reduce pain and swelling.

  • Interferential Current stimulation to increase blood flow and relieve pain in tender areas
  • Ultrasound therapy to increase circulation and break apart scar tissue
  • Hot/Cold therapy to reduce pain, increase circulation, and decrease swelling

Pre Surgical Rehab

To put it succinctly, prehab shortens rehab. For patients who have pre-planned joint replacements or other reparative operations, pre-surgical rehabilitation helps reduce the time and challenges of post-surgery rehabilitation.

After surgery, patients must re-learn how to move again. Much of that need comes from the lack of muscle mass and flexibility that their existing condition caused. In addition, the surgery itself often involves some pain and stiffness in the following days and weeks.

Pre-surgical rehabilitation is designed to help you regain some of your lost strength and flexibility before you even have the surgery, as well as build up your ability to heal more quickly after your operation. When done correctly, prehab can dramatically decrease the time and pain associated with post-surgical recovery.
